2018 Tapiz Black Tears Malbec

2018 Tapiz Black Tears Malbec

It’s been five years since we’ve seen this wine grace Costco shelves, and it’s really nice to see it back again.

We don’t think we’ve spent more on a single bottle of Malbec since the last time we bought this one, which was the 2013 vintage that we rated a solid 93 points.

Tapiz Black Tears Malbec

Most Malbec you readily find is in the $15-$20 range, but we were really impressed with this bottle as we crept up market a bit.

Believe it or not, Costco’s price has actually come down $1 from the previous price of $38.99. Retail is around $50 and a few places online sell it in the mid $40’s. So a great Costco discount.

And this wine is worth every penny, just as we mentioned in the previous review. It’s big, bold and daring.

Tapiz Black Tears Malbec

Floral, spicy and earthy on the nose; dark in the glass (we called it “vampire juice” last time); good combination of red and dark fruit flavors with cherry, plum, blackberry; full bodied and mouth coating; big, chocolatey finish.

This wine is every bit as good as we remember it, so our rating will stay the same at 93 points.
