2022 Domaine de la Galopiere Cuvee Perle Rare Bourgogne
We are always down for trying new Burgundies when they arrive at Costco and this was a new one we ran into.
Costco’s price at $22.99 is about what we found the wine selling for online, and Vivino showed an average price of $22.61. So perhaps not much of a deal here for buying at Costco.
We found this to be a pretty basic Burgundy, nothing to write home about, and nothing too memorable. You can score other bottles of Pinot Noir at Costco that are higher quality and under $20.
In the glass, the wine pours a pale ruby; a bit muted on the nose; medium in body with pleasant fruit; flavors of cherry, raspberry and rhubarb; simple and felt a little constrained, even after some time in the decanter. Mellow finish.
This is a first step in the Burgundy ladder. A drinkable table wine; not much more or very interesting so probably a bottle we would pass on in the future.
