2021 Kirkland Signature Toscana | CostcoWineBlog.com

It looks like this is going to be more of an August wine arrival now compared to end of year as it had been for a while. But now two years in a row we’re getting it early.

The price is staying the same as the prior vintage at $13.99 which is good since it had started to creep up, and then came back down.

2021 Kirkland Signature Toscana

Historically, it hasn’t been a favorite, but taken for what it is, it’s an ok buy in our opinion. Here are our ratings over the years.

2014 vintage: 88 points

(this wine took a bit of a hiatus for a few years as best we can tell)

2019 vintage: 87 points

2020 vintage: 86 points

It really depends on how this one hits you. It definitely needs some air as one reader posted in the comments last year. That can get it to open a bit.

Similar notes this year as years past. This Super Tuscan pours a medium ruby in the glass with subtle aromas of berry fruit, herbs and earthiness; medium in body, a little thin on the flavor; some raspberry, black cherry, plum with peppery notes; decent finish.

This wine tastes a little disjointed at times, similar to what we’ve noted before. For a mid week Italian dinner with meat and red sauce, you’re good. Pizza night too.

But we still would like to see a little more out of this one in the realm of what a Kirkland Super Tuscan could be. Keeping the rating the same at 86 points.
