2021 Barossa Valley Estate Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre

Everybody loves to see the special limited time discount signs in the Costco wine aisle, and here’s a new one we found on a tasty little Australian GSM blend.

It was particularly fitting as we just concluded a trip to Australia and enjoyed some wonderful wines, both red and white, from all over the country. We’ve written books on Italy, France and Spain, and are now thinking Australia may be up next.

Barossa Valley Estate Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre

The limited time discount on this bottle lasts through September 1, and it’s only $3 off, so not a huge savings if you miss it. But it makes this a $7 wine which hard to beat.

Wine.com is selling the bottle as high as $15, and they list the blend as 37% Grenache, 33% Shiraz, 30% Mourvèdre.

The wine has an earthy, fruity nose after pouring a medium to dark purple in the glass; it is medium plus body with nice acidity; good flavor profile that’s a combo of red and dark fruit; some cherry, raspberry with blackberry, plum. Pepper spice and herbs and a touch of leather in the finish which lasts a while.

This is really a good wine at a great price. Solid punch, lots of fun, this is a bottle we could enjoy again and again.
